Pre credits: Once more, one sees a multitude of characters in the pre credits: a man who explains that it did not find anything in Louisiana nor in Maryland, a man with white shirt and yellow tie answers him that it will speak to him about it and invites it to keep this exchange between them. This same man questions then a young woman in a newspaper office: he does not want to know if there is something between them (?) nor which will lose its work but it knows. Following scene: a black man on the telephone in a bar: do not make Ci, they go me crucifier, you cannot stop there, one will speak again about it later when I return. It speaks to a certain Ben then (always on the telephone but after some glasses): we will roll Times, j?ai 2 sources different. And hop, "You' ve got has file" is posted on its portable: it opens and one sees a photograph of a road cut with this message enigmatic: Dead End. It is not very content. Return on Mr. Elkins (the man with the white shirt and the yellow carvatte) which gives a conference for a school of journalism, a man congratulates it, it consults its pager: No new message. Beginning of the investigation.
A detective indicates to us that it is about Katya Jalenak employed to N there Sentinel. She was found in the apartment of Carl Hines her boy friend, it is him which discovered the body. It was in Pennsylvania. The door was closed, the neighbors heard noise about midnight. Ah, not significant it is the first scene of Samantha Buck which will play from now on the detective Bishop colleague of Goren. The detective who explains what occurred makes fun of it because it does not take a note. It specifies to him that the scissors full with blood is surely the weapon of the crime: it would owe l?écrire. Thanks to the perfume in the hair of the corpse, Goren discovers that the young woman slept when it was awaked. Bishop evokes a burgling which badly turned. B&G (for Bishop and Goren) go with the NY Sentinel and question the colleagues. Nobody knew that Carl and Katya had a connection. Did it have money problems? pfft, one n?en knows anything. And hop, the big boss unloads: Ben Elkins, the man with the shirt. He closes all the drawers style, you will not find anything inside. Souevnez you we were entitled to the same scene in the 3.03 The Gift . B&G ask whether it knew where was Hines yesterday evening: yes in Pennsylvania, it had it on the telephone about midnight in connection with an article. Elkins cannot communicate (because of the first amendment) the 2 sources of Hines.

Change of decoration: Hines and Elkins take glass and speak about the business. And like of course: a conversation with double direction where it is said that vague things, which can be the subject of various interpretations.

Scene with the police station and furtive appearance of Heames: apparently all did not go well in the life of Katya. It connaisait money problems. Hines is not very loquacious for him "we' ve shared has bed, No pills", then they again ask to contact its advisors. It cannot give the names if it wants guard their confidence. Goren is thus surprised that the writer as a head could join them by telephone. Who thus needs an alibi?

One meets then the mother of Katya which explains us why his/her daughter had a relation with a married man. Thanks to pills anti sea sickness and a photograph of Elkins to the marina in its boat, Goren deduces that it had had a relation with its owner. They will see the boat: it is beautiful but the scene is useless

. Very logically, the investigation is directed from now on towards Ben Elkins. It questions the president of the school of journalism which is... the father of Carl Hines: Roy Hines. It confirms the presence of Ben at the time of the conference. Carl arrives and precise that Ben is a good husband. I forgot but there is also a history of rats! And yes the boat of Elkins was infested rats, qualifier employed by Katya to qualify its owner. Goren thus unloads with a lunch of Elkins to evoke its private life. Pushed with end it authorizes the detectives to inquire. They are focused on the expenditure of the journalists of which Carl Hines, but this last does not present any invoice. Strange for somebody who carries out surveys in all the country. And there, one thinks that us are remade the blow of Jason Blair, journalist with the NY Times which faked its articles. To use a fact various to write a scenario it is not serious but to do it in L&O and L&O Ci in 2 months of interval it is limiting.

Hines Family: father and wire. Carl evokes its future departure for the Ben Elkins presented a new agent to him. His/her father speaks about this history as a tragedy but his/her son must benefit from it to seize again himself and stop amongst other things drinking. Return to the police station, inspectors dismounting one by one articles written by Carl Hines of which an oyster culturist. As it pipotait its articles, it could be the night of the murder anywhere. Carver arrives and requires details on trickery. Katya provided the illustrations, it was with the service of the photographs. Moreover its last sending it was the photograph of the road. Then which killed which? Carl which kills Katya? Not, Ben maintains to have spoken to him by telephone. If Carl did not say anything at the time of the trap of Goren it is because it was to miss the proof of its journalistic fraud on its desk. It could not l?avouer. The assassin could be Elkins which wished to preserve its intact reputation. For that it should be proven that it was well-informed.

As usual it is time to accelerate: wife-swapping party at Hines: B&G, the father and the son. The father lunatic the charges carried against his son. Goren exposes the theory of a Ben who does not want to lose the face in front of the professionals of the profession. The son does not support any more to hear and the father explains the relations which link it in Ben Elkins. The inspectors convene Ben at Carver. Resemblances to the articles? Each journalist has the right to take notes. Response of Bishop: the problem it is that that relates to full d?articles. Elkins then shows the office of the prosecutor to want to call into question the affirmative action (political aiming at helping the integration of the minorités)qu' it carries out in its drafting by criticizing the work of a young black. B&G go to the school of journalism where ensign Roy Hines. Roy had a direction of the honor with flower of skin. It needed also a cushion to sit down because d?une malicious sciatica. It is finally the final scene and it is a relief for everyone. In accelerated mode, that gives a father who recognizes know about plagiarized of his son and its disappointment shows him. Does Goren ask Carl if his/her father revealed to him that it had killed Katya to protect it? It declares that not. But Goren evokes another track. The lamp of corridor unscrewed more one trailing cable on the fitted carpet constituted a perfect trap to kill somebody, like Carl, which enters the apartment. But to kill it for which reasons: plagiarism answers Goren, attitude which horripile Père. And this last is carried against his/her son but it did not kill it, swears it! However one found grease to clean the weapons on the bulb in the entry. It had very prepared to kill his son who returned from his "report". The problem, it is that Katya awoke. Goren enters in detail of the organization and the mobile: the son was going to destroy because of his silly thing all that it had built since of the years. The son cracks and acknowledges that the father acknowledged the death of Katya well to him to protect it. "Roy Hines you' Re under arrest for murder".
